"Never Knowing" by Chevy Stevens

Wow!  What a book FULL of Suspense!  Oh there is a lot of mystery as well, but the suspense is a killer!  This is one of my favorite reads for 2011!  By far!

The way this book starts off is Sara is at her Psychiatrist’s office talking to her, having a session.  All through the story she needs to talk to her Psychiatrist to help her get through all of this.  Sara can’t believe what she has found out.
Sara is adopted.  Sara has never felt as if she has ever ‘truly belonged’ to her adoptive family, even after the many times of hearing over and over how much her parents loved her as if she was their own.  Sara stills feel a deep longing to find her birth parents, especially her mother, as many adopted children do.  The desire to meet her birth mother is deep and goes back many, many years.  She has a lot of questions for her, but one in particular, the one almost all adopted children want to ask, “Why did you give me up for adoption?”
Sara hires a Private Investigator help her find information about her birth mother.  He gives her as much information as he can find which is the location and phone number of where her birth mother lives.  A few questions arise later on, and when her husband questions Sara about them, Sara goes to look for this Private Investigator and he can no longer be found.  Her husband accuses her of hiring someone not so great.  She told her husband he was an ex-police officer, yet she didn’t check.  There are unanswered questions that will remain unanswered.  This will play out later in the book, as I don’t want to give spoilers!
Now, all Sara has left to do is to contact her birth mother.  She is a little worried about this, but why?  After all these years of wanting to meet her, she feels like something is holding her back, but what?  Finally she gets the nerve to do it.  She goes to her birth mother’s home, but, only to find that her birth mother wants nothing to do with her.  The door gets slammed in her face.  Why?  Sara can’t figure out why her own birth mother would do this to her.
Sara tries again and again, and finally gets a very short and brief visit with her birth mother, and learns something horrifying.  Sara’s birth mother is the only ‘living’ victim who had escaped the notorious “Campsite Serial Killer”, yet she had been raped by him, resulting in a pregnancy, which was Sara.  She is panicked and does NOT want him to find out and know who she is, as she has changed her name, nor does she want him to find out where she is now living.  She also does not want him to find out about Sara or her daughter.  She is scared to death.  The “Campsite Killer” is still on the loose.  With this information, if it ever leaked out, this monster of a man could come back for her, or even for Sara and her family to finish the job.
Now Sara’s life and her family’s lives are at risk just for knowing this information.  ‘Never Knowing’ could now longer be true if any of this information leaked out.  (In my opinion, I think the Private Investigator figured this information out and did not want Sara to know the complete story, or he didn’t want to be the one who told her.)
Now Sara knows her father is a notorious serial killer still out on the loose.
Now what does Sara do?
Now we find out the press got wind of Sara meeting with her birth mother and both their connection to the serial killer..  How?  Then it pops into her head.  ALL the research she had done in the library about her birth mother had been noticed by someone.  Or, could it have been the Private Investigator just talking about a case to people?  We don’t know who that someone is?  Now that the Press knows, everyone knows.  Now her father knows . . .
Now starts the rest of this story.  Hold onto your seats, for the chase has just begun!
This book was incredible The suspense never stops.  It goes on and on and on.  Now we wait.  Does her father learn about them all?  Who is at risk?  Who?  When?  What will happen?
I won this book from Goodreads through their Book Reviewer’s Program in exchange to read and write a review about this book.  It is NOT required for my review I write to be either positive or negative, but, “of my own opinion.”  I was NOT provided with “ANY” monies to accept this book, “NOR” to read it, NOR were “ANY” monies given to me to write the review for this book.  All that was ‘expected’ of me was to enjoy the pure pleasure of reading it.  Again, the opinions expressed for and about this book are ‘of my own opinion’.  I am disclosing this information in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255, http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/16cfr255_03.html Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.
