READING CHALLENGES

ALL CHALLENGES for 2015 are listed HERE!

Ah! One of my FAVORITE things to do! READING CHALLENGES! Why? Because they are fun! I look forward to doing these every year, TIME PERMITTING!

The HARD part for me is remembering to post the books HERE, and on my Archives page!

The first Challenge is the Goodreads Challenge! That one will be listed on the HOME PAGE in the right side column. This year I am going to read 70 books in total since I read 69 books in 2012 and 2014. What's one more book? Nothing!

To find the books I read for the Challenges, l'll post them here, and try to remember to 'tag' these as 2015 on my Goodreads books, and the same goes for any other Challenges I am in this year because a lot of these overlap.

THESE ARE NO-STRESS CHALLENGES, or else I can't do them. That is one thing I must avoid in my life with this neuro-muscle disease, and that is stress!

For the ebook Challenge, I wanted to pledge to read 65 books, but the choices for the ebooks were 50 or 75. I KNOW I will definitely read MORE than 50 ebooks, and I actually prefer to read ebooks over print books, but I'm not going to stress it and go over 70. If l fall short, then so be it! (If I have to CHANGE my Goodreads Reading Challenge number, so be it . . . we'll see!)

If I go higher, then so be it! My point is not going any higher than what I can read, but most important is to ENJOY stress-free reading. Reading IS for enjoyment, after all! Not have to reach a certain 'number', or else fail.

For ANY Challenges I am in, ALL of the books will be listed HERE in ONE PLACE on this "2015 CHALLENGES" page!

GOODREADS CHALLENGE

I LOVE this Challenge! Every year for the last 3 years I have read 70 books, so instead of pledging to read 65 books, I am going to push myself a little more and declare I will read an additional 5 books this year instead of saying I'll read 65 it will be 70! It's on the front page, but I'll list it here, below, too!

UPDATE 10-9-15: WOW! Talk about reading books! So far as of this date I have read 48 novels and 1 novella (over 100 pages so it counts!)

The NEXT Challenge is the:

You can plan your books in advance or as you read them.

Now, to sign up, please go click HERE!

I will be doing the 50 ebooks - GIGABYTES - This is an EASY Challenge for me. Most ALL of the books I read are ebooks, so . . . this is fitting! It should be easy - EXCEPT to remember to do a post EVERY month at the beginning of the month and then linking up at the Hosting blog! Let's see if I can do it this year! This will be a FIRST! LOL!
  • 1.          Looks like I did NOT keep this up. Bummer! In order to do so at this late of a date would take too much time away from reading more at this time. I'm going to keep this up so NEXT YEAR I can come back here and sign back up for this again and go for a re-do! UNLESS I get the chance to fill this out which is pretty doubtful, but you never know! We' see!

Welcome to the second annual Netgalley and Edelweiss Reading Challenge!

Have you ever logged on to Edelweiss or Netgalley with the intention of "Just Looking" and then logged off having requested 5 new titles even though your TBR is a mile long? This challenge will (hopefully) give you the incentive to tackle your review books, stumble upon new ones, and get your Netgalley percentage to the desired 80%!

Challenge Guidelines
  • The challenge will run from Jan 1, 2015 – Dec 31, 2015.
  • Anyone is welcome to join. You do not need to be a blogger, just post your reviews, grab the links, and come back every month to link them up.
  • Any genre, release date, request date, length, etc. counts so long as it came from Edelweiss or Netgalley.
  • At the beginning of each month there will be a roundup post for you to add your reviews.
  • If you forget to link up one month it's not a problem just add your reviews next month.
  • If you would like to move up or down levels that is completely fine and at your discretion.
  • If you have any questions tweet me @FallingForYA or e-mail Emisbookblog@aol.com!
  • *****(MY OWN NOTE: IF YOU DECIDE YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CHALLENGE, AND THIS IS A "FUN" CHALLENGE!!! Thanks to our Sponsor, BookDate! Thanks!

This challenge is for those who enjoy reading women's fiction.  How might you define this type of book?  I define it as any book that is mainly written for women (although that doesn't stop men reading them),  they may contain elements of romance but the book mainly centres around the development of women or a woman throughout the book.  Women centered books, that might focus on the issues relating to women, it may be a mainstream novel, slightly less or slightly more.  This website probably best describes what I am thinking of Women Fiction Writers.

The Romance Writers of America organization defines women's fiction as, "a commercial novel about a woman on the brink of life change and personal growth. Her journey details emotional reflection and action that transforms her and her relationships with others, and includes a hopeful/upbeat ending with regard to her romantic relationship."

Take whichever definition suits you - both of the ones linked above or write your own definition  in your challenge post and then join in.

LEVELS

  • Motivated 1- 5
  • Savvy     6 - 10
  • Classy    11- 20
  • Go-getter  20 -30 I am going to dedicate over 20 books to Women's Fiction.
  • Fearless  30+
Books may overlap with other challenges. Any format of book is fine.  Choose your level and write a commitment post or set aside a Goodreads shelf for this challenge, if you don't have a blog or would prefer to work that way.

There will be a link for reviews although reviews are not a condition of completing the challenge, they are just an extra:
January to June
- (This is a place where you can link up reviews during the year - January to June.  There will be two link ups during the year.  One from January to June and the other from July to December.)

There will be a final link up post at the end for those who complete their challenge. All those who complete the challenge will go into the draw for a $25 prize to be in the form of a book from the Book Depository or voucher for U.S. Amazon store.  A Gone Reading voucher is also an option. (If you have not gone to Gone Reading, the link provided in the previous sentence, it is SO worth checking out! WOW, is all I can say!)

Sign ups are open until mid October 2015
The challenge goes from 1st January 2015 to December 31st 2015

Thanks to our Sponsor, RIEDEL FASCINATION - click on the name and it will take you to the blog to this link and you can still sign up to join!

Our pioneering year concludes February 28th, with a good crowd that has made me happy.  Every review has contributed to a database in my menu atop this blog.  No effort is wasted and I am excited to look ahead.  I hereby renew “My Kind Of Mystery” in 2015!  See mywhole trio.
What sets us apart is any literature related to mystery ~ not solely novels.  If you enjoy true cases, are a student of investigative techniques, if there were an ‘open a detective agency for dummies’, or you like writing tips and biographies of authors:  all of these angles are included.  No matter when you join, count what you’ve read since February 1st.
Age, publication year, format, length:  there are no rules.  Combine your material with my other groups, like “Ethereal“!  :)  There are three other mystery hostesses, to whom I wholeheartedly nod.  We each bring our flair and they supported my fledgling year.  Here’s to a fun 2015!

INTERNATIONAL PRIZES! ~
I love plotting creative ways to award prizes!  Winners our inaugural year enjoyed eclectic goodies:  secondhand paperbacks, Canadian postcards, even plant seeds.  Fun options for everyone internationally.  Your choice each time.  RIEDEL Fascination festivities run every couple of months.
Please either subscribe to this blog, or ask for an e-mail when there’s an activity:  AlyshaeB(at)hotmail(dot)com.  Festivities are voluntary but can only take place if people play.  Rather than struggle to drop off information (via dial-up!);  everyone will know what’s afoot.  Don’t hesitate to guess.  If everyone were stumped by a riddle, I would draw a prize among all who tried!

Full Mystery Levels

SIGNING-UP ~
Bloggers:  share why you’re keen on my group, show this link and logo, and name the level you have in mind.  No matter, if you don’t finish.  I have designed prize points that put everyone in our grande finale, for joining and linking a review!  Please do a post / page with no more than 3 other groups on it.  It mustn’t be too media-heavy for slow speed internet and you will give our circle visibility that I appreciate tremendously.
I will set up a review page after Christmas.  One or two sentences to clarify your star-rating are ample, at Amazon, GoodreadsBook Depository…  Without a blog, fill in the sign-up button with any publically-viewable website (not ‘facebook’) that lets you write and make lists.  Altnernatively, use the URL to your Goodreads profile, then share your progress via comments on any of our pages.  The review buttons are our focus the remainder of the year.

Join me from February 1, 2015 to February 1, 2016!
Your Name @ Blog Name + (Mystery Level)

GRAND FINALE PRIZE TABULATION ~
1 name in a bowl ~ You joined via linky button & linked 1 review.
1 name in a bowl ~ You finished your original commitment level.
1 name in a bowl ~ For each level risen higher than you planned.

NEW THIS YEAR ~
If there are riddles running in your head, or treats you’d like to give away internationally;  drop me a line!  It would be fun to let others run clues.  I think of my participants as guests in my parlour for a year.  You have a say in our entertainment.
We’re neatly trimming to:  February 1, 2015 to February 1, 2016.  Present members may use excess titles and we’ll even out.  May our Christmases and the year 2015 be wonderful!  Warmly, Carolyn.
Okay! With that said, with my LOVE of mysteries, I am going to do:
UNEARTHING CLUES 11 - 20 BOOKS
Each year I probably do close to 20 Mysteries, ALL kinds from cozies to the gory, but NO HORROR! I LOVE the missing people mysteries, such as Gone Girl, and I have a NEW one from my author friend, Jenny Milchman, with her New Release NOW called Ruin Falls where someone goes missing! I LOVE mysteries!
I participated in this Challenge last year, but I was never good enough to POST my review links like I should have, but that will change this year! I just hope I can do it all on ONE day on the 1st. That WILL be a problem due to my having this neurological muscle disease, but I am going to try. Let's see how well I can do!
This starts February 1st, 2015! YOU can sign up, too!
