#NEW #RELEASE 8-2! plus #REVIEW for "Watching Edie" by Camilla Way!

Description:
For fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train: A dazzling work of psychological suspense that weaves together the past and present of two women’s twisted friendship.

Beautiful, creative, a little wild… Edie was the kind of girl who immediately caused a stir when she walked into your life. And she had dreams back then—but it didn’t take long for her to learn that things don’t always turn out the way you want them to.

Now, at thirty-three, Edie is working as a waitress, pregnant and alone. And when she becomes overwhelmed by the needs of her new baby and sinks into a bleak despair, she thinks that there’s no one to turn to…

But someone’s been watching Edie, waiting for the chance to prove once again what a perfect friend she can be. It’s no coincidence that Heather shows up on Edie’s doorstep, just when Edie needs her the most. So much has passed between them—so much envy, longing, and betrayal. And Edie’s about to learn a new lesson: those who have hurt us deeply—or who we have hurt—never let us go, not entirely…

MY TAKE:
5 STARS!
Wow! Excellent writing makes this an excellent psychological thriller! It grabs you from the very first page and you don’t want to put the book down until you reach the end and get all the answers you were looking for! I highly recommended this psychological thriller of a read! The twists and turns alone keep you wanting to read, find answers, and finish this book as fast as you can!
This story is told to us by the two different people, the two main characters who are Edie and Heather. Edie narrates the present but with only slight references to these character's past. When it’s the past that needs to be referenced to, it’s told to us by Heather who is still so tightlipped about it we don't learn what it is for the longest time.
The difference is at the very beginning of the book when we, the reader, never know exactly “what” happened to put these two friends at such odds towards one another. Whatever happened seems to be so disturbing, especially for Edie who doesn't even want to leave her house. We do expect it was something terrible that happened sixteen years ago.
At this point in the book it sounds as though Edie is the most deeply disturbed person, or is it Heather as we later learn? We just don’t know! The other thing that makes us really think Edie has so much to do with whatever happened in the beginning of this story is that Heather and Edie’s friendship is based upon a strange attraction Heather has for Edie, and Edie is clueless that Heather feels this way about their friendship because Edie meets a guy named Connor, and this kicked up some severe jealousy from Heather. This jealousy is about all I’m going to say about this so I don’t ruin anything about this story "if" this is the cause for them being at odds with one another.
Currently, after Edie has her baby, she goes into a severe postpartum Depression, and isn’t it convenient that Heather shows up at Edie’s doorstep when she is suffering so severely from this. The girls run into issues again over what happened so long ago, and we find out what these issues are going back in time. These girls have such a strange and screwed up friendship that this make for a marvelous ending for this book! You’ll love it! Again, I highly recommend this book!
