Prep Your Introductions for Armchair BEA 2014!
As in previous years, we kick off our big week of celebrating Armchair BEA by first introducing ourselves. This year, the big day for introductions is Monday, May 26, 2014. We want to share our list of introduction questions with you a little earlier than usual this year, so you have plenty of time to choose which questions you want to answer and allow you enough prep time to get them ready to kick off the week.
Below you will find a list of ten questions. We recommend that you choose FIVE questions to answer in your Armchair BEA introduction. The reason we ask this is because it will allow you more time to blog hop, introduce yourself to other bloggers, and discover more amazing people along the way. For all those returning participants, we have completely revamped our questions this year, so we hope that you find them fresh, new, and fun to answer.
I now leave you with the list of introduction questions.
Enjoy drafting your answers now, and have a blast reading

MY ANSWERS!
Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? Where in the world are you blogging from? I am 47, disabled and cannot work at all because I have a very rare (1 in 1 million) neurological muscle disease called Stiff Person Syndrome. It causes your body to go completely rigid/stiff, then the muscles spasm out of control because they are not supposed to be that way. It hurts! OW! I fight muscle spasms all day, every day, making life a bit difficult. I cannot work due to this disease as well. It has even taken my ability to walk away, which is a bummer! I can do a few steps around the house, but that's about it. It is extremely difficult to do housework as well. I do what I can when I can, then I have to rest, so I pick up a book! I do take a LOT of time to read instead of watching TV because it is so much more enjoyable. I also read so I don't go stir-crazy! LOL! I LOVE writing reviews about books because I get to relive the story a little! I started blogging because one day I was at Amazon and Aobibliophile's blog popped up! Yes, I was looking at the books! I ended up at his blog! I had no clue how BIG book blogs were/still are! I LOVE this!!! So now I have been blogging, when I am able to, for 4 years now! I LOVE it! How could you not LOVE talking about books?! I started off with 2 blogs, and this is a little funny story about it. The other blog was called 'Laurie is Reading', and this one, Laurie Here . . . . THIS blog took right off when I thought it would have been the other blog that took off right away because of the name! Shows you what I know! LOL! Oh! I am blogging from Port Huron, Michigan! Well, I really live in Port Huron, Township, but they don't have a Post Office, so I have to take on the Port Huron name in my address! Then, since Port Huron Township is really the other way, as I am on the furthest southeast corner. I really live in Marysville! LOL! Do I have you confused yet? It's the way this state cuts it's cities up, super jagged! I say Marysville!
2. What genre do you read the most? Easy-peasy! FICTION!
I love to read because it's a wonderful escape from life and I just could not live without it! Here is a copy and paste from my email signature of what I like and don't like to read in genres!
***Genres I review*** FICTION: ADULT + NEW ADULT, CONTEMPORARY, WOMEN'S, CHICK-LIT, POPULAR, MYSTERY/SUSPENSE/PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS (NO HORROR)/ROMANCE/ROMANTIC TIME TRAVEL AND SLIGHT PARANORMAL/Witches, Magic, lotions and potions are enjoyable! I LOVE the Renaissance Times/ROMANCE/HISTORICAL/AMISH/ALL CHRISTMAS any time of the year/Children's and Adult Coming of Age/Word Puzzle books.
These are NOT NECESSARILY IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER - I love them ALL!
Genres I do NOT review: NO YA (NO YOUNG ADULT)/NO MIDDLE GRADE/Memoirs/ Auto-Biographies/Pure Paranormal/Fantasy/Urban Fantasy/Supernatural/Science Fiction/Ghosts/NO Vampires/Werewolves/NO Zombies/NO Apocalyptic/NO religion (except Amish), NO Erotica, or other 'different' genres.
3. Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. -- so we can connect more online. My blog is a very eclectic blog because I love to mix up what I like to read. One day I might feel like Women's Fiction and the next I might feel like New Adult or a Mystery. Another day I might want a crime scene murder mystery with serial killers and the next I am finding a story about a quilting group!
ALL of my Social Networks are listed on this blog in the RIGHT SIDE COLUMN here on my blog, and you can also scroll down a bit to see them all listed again!
4. What was your favorite book read last year? What’s your favorite book so far this year? Last year it was Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain but if you are going to read that book, you MUST purchase the prequel to the book called The First Lie by Diane Chamberlain! This year - 2014, hmmmm? I am choosing The Fault in Our Stars by John Greene! LOVED that book! It was emotional torture to read that one, but I would read it again and again and again! Now they will have made it a movie, and I just HOPE it follows true to the book!
5. What does your favorite/ideal reading space look like? (Pinterest encouraged!) Now THIS is a GREAT idea!! Here is my Pinterest account so you go directly there! http://www.pinterest.com/lauriehere

Hi Laurie, wow your disability sounds dreadful. But reading books must bring some comfort. I love books and movies and can't wait to see John Greene's new one. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your disability. It's not one I was familiar with previously, and appreciate learning about it.
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you, and I look forward to your thoughts on books. Hope you enjoyed ABEA!
