There we have it! I bought one! I bought "My Kind of Christmas by Robyn Carr! I LOVE Christmas stories. Christmas can be a magical time of year, no matter how depressing one season might be, something magical ends up happening in some way, at least in my life's experience this has happened. It was the first year I was divorced and I did NOT have my children the ENTIRE holiday season. MANY tears were shed, and I got sicker than sick with the stomach flu and ended up in the hospital.  What I 'thought' was going to be the WORST Christmas made of nightmares turned out to be the BEST Christmas of all! Why?
I met my spouse, now of 10 years, a few days after Christmas! The NEW YEAR brought in VERY HAPPY TIMES for my entire future! How about you? Tell us what book you bought, and it does NOT have to be from this week's list of Best Sellers, but ANY book you bought this week. Tell us why you chose it by LEAVING A COMMENT BELOW!
Happy Reading!
Laurie

  1. Most of the same old pirates, with even a double dip or two. And I hear Patterson does not even write the books. He sketches a draft, and then some acolyte does the donkey work. I used to read him, but not any more.

I love a well written mystery!

    1. Hi Margot!
SO glad you commented! LOVE what you said as it is ALL SO true in my opinion!
If you did not know, the 50 Shades Series has been on this list since before MAY! I say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! If that is NOT enough, that genre is reeling along! Now comes Sylvia Day! Her books seem to be a Trilogy as well! EVERYONE seems to write a Trilogy, especially the Indie Authors! I read an interesting article that said it is good to do so as the authors can make more money that way. I am SO TIRED of Trilogies that I won't read them (except from a very few select authors).
James Patterson - UGH!!!! Just recently I wrote a not-so-good review about a book. I posted it on Amazon, and then you get ALL these people FULL of hatred who come out of the woodwork to comment negatively on the review you wrote. This one particular book, and I refuse to say the name as it was SO AWFUL, the Publisher had sent it out to 3 of us Bloggers/Reviewers. ALL 3 of us did NOT know the other even had the book for review, and ALL 3 of us rated it a '1' star!!! How funny is that?! We had good reason to rate it as such, too. I had a GREAT laugh over that! One of the Commenters started on about James Patterson (allow me to interject that that Author we gave the 1-star review to has written a TON of books in a short time frame) So I brought up the discussion about the books James Patterson did NOT write! I listed EVERY Co-Author who really wrote the books. The ONLY time James Patterson writes a book HIMSELF is if it is about Alex Cross! The other books ONLY carry his name to ensure successful sales. Heck, I don't even think he READS THE MANUSCRIPT PRIOR TO PUBLICATION! Does he need to? It would have to be proven to me that he does. Although, I guess I cannot say that because I do NOT know for sure. I explained to this person ANY book with the NAME of James Patterson, is NOT necessarily his work but the work by the co-authors, such as Michael Karp who REALLY WROTE THIS CURRENT BOOK that is out! There is NO WAY James Patterson could POSSIBLY crank out ALL the books that his name is on in '1' year! EVERY year so many books are released with HIS name on them! It irritates the HECK out of me! For that comment, I also went through ALL the books that James Patterson wrote, all through 2012 and stopped when I hit 2011. I lost count now, but there HAD to be 8 to 10 books ALONE WITH HIS NAME ON THEM! He actually seems to have 5 or 6 CO-AUTHORS who REALLY WRITE THE BOOKS! I even listed the Co-Authors names down. I HAD to point that out to her! I don't know what she said after I wrote that comment as I had NO NEED TO READ ANOTHER REPLY FROM HER! We even see James Patterson make a TV commercial about a book he wrote about this dorky young boy to appeal to children now. HE DID NOT WRITE THAT BOOK! 2 OTHER CO-AUTHORS WROTE THAT BOOK! I don't consider that 'being an author' when you contract that book out to another author.
Anyway, yes, this NYT Best Seller list is FULL of the same authors week after week. I don't get how public keeps on buying the same books each week, over and over again. I want to see excellent authors and a more diverse group of authors on this list. I AM tired of the same authors, same books, week after week.
I AM looking forward to a change. I believe the ONLY way this will happen is to let the current series of books run their course until we get some NEW blood that CAN really write an excellent book. We HAVE had them on the list, but the garbage books continue to outsell these GREAT authors. Right now we know what the public wants, and until they wise up to what is good writing and what is not, I feel we are 'stuck' in this continuous rut. I AM GLAD that 50 Shades is NO LONGER #1, 2 and 3 anymore! So people ARE starting to wise up. Thankfully!
Thanks for leaving a comment and telling us how YOU feel about the books on the NYT Top 15 Best Sellers!
I'll visit your site, too, and thank for sharing the addy with us!
