Read-A-Thon #boutofbooks Update - Day 3 - Wednesday

UPDATE FOR DAY 3 - WEDNESDAY!

*Please see the edited part at the end! Thanks!

I'm LOVING this Read-A-Thon! I've been reading non-stop! I am focusing on ONLY reading pretty much, and I will write the reviews next week! I've had to do a few other things, but for the most part ALL I'm doing is reading!
On Tuesday I told you the next book I was going to read was 'Skinny Bitch Gets Hitched', but . . . I went to pick the book up, and I saw this book and I HAD TO READ IT! This book releases this coming Tuesday, August 26th! Get it! Read it! You'll never look at an old house in the same way after this book! More about it tomorrow!

                                       DONE
                                       400 Pages

OMG! It is SOOOO Good! As I am writing this now, I have finished it, but I can't tell you anything about it until tomorrow! I CAN tell you this - as I was reading this well into the night, it DID scare me! Books NEVER scare me! NEVER! This one did!

THE CHALLENGE FOR TODAY - LIKE THIS, TRY THIS (copied and pasted from Writing My Own Fairy Tale) - here are the directions, and after those I will post the books I am going to suggest! Here it is:

  • You must recommend a book based on another book, movie, tv show, etc similar to this: “If you liked _____, you should try _____ because _____.”

  • Any genre and reading level is fine and you may use any set-up you like, so long as you’re recommending a book based on something else and explaining why.

  • Post your recommendation wherever you are posting your read-a-thon updates.

  • The challenge and giveaway will be open for 24 hours from midnight CST to midnight CST Thursday, August 21.

  • If you loved this book, Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Then you should try reading this one! I LOVED it! "Ten Tiny Breaths" by K A Tucker

Why? You'll love this book because just like in Hopeless where we are completely blown-away SHOCKED find out . . . this book also throws in that same type of SHOCKING surprise as well! I LOVED both of these books!

This brings me to announce K A Tucker's NEW RELEASE coming out on Tuesday, September 2nd!

In Her Wake, A Novella, 0.5 Prequel to Ten Tiny Breaths
Be forewarned! Ten Tiny Breaths 'should' be read first. I see this suggestion everywhere, even from the publisher. I looked this Novella up on Goodreads, and it says it's 320 pages, so I don't know HOW it can be considered a Novella? Hmmm. Amazon said the same thing. When I look at it on the Kindle, the line is short and it does not look like a 320 page book. It looks much shorter. I 'just' received this for review! I'm going to have to get to this ASAP! I'll add the description below! Enjoy!

    Description

Author’s Note: Although it is a prequel, In Her Wake is best read after completing Ten Tiny Breaths.

Before you knew him as Trent in Ten Tiny Breaths, he was Cole Reynolds—and he had it all. Until one night when he makes a fatal, wrong decision…and loses everything.

When a drunken night out at a Michigan State college party results in the death of six people, Cole must come to terms with his part in the tragedy. Normally, he’d be able to lean on his best friends—the ones who have been in his life since he could barely walk. Only, they’re gone. Worse, there’s the shattered body of a sixteen-year-old girl lying somewhere in a hospital bed, her entire life ripped from her because of a case of beer and a set of keys.

Everyone assures him that they know it wasn’t intentional, and yet he can’t ignore the weight of their gazes, the whispers behind his back. Nor can he shake the all-consuming guilt he feels every time he thinks of that girl who won’t so much as allow him near her hospital room to apologize. As the months go by and the shame and loneliness festers, Cole begins to lose his grip on what once was important—college, his girlfriend, his future. His life. It’s not until Cole hits rock-bottom that he can begin to see another way out of his personal hell: forgiveness.

And there’s only one person who can give that to him…

Oh! I almost forgot! LOLOL! I promised you I would tell you what I decided to read! I couldn't help myself, but this book was SCREAMING MY NAME! The book I ended up choosing to read over Skinny Bitch Gets Hitched is:

WHAT IT WAS LIKE by Peter Seth
                          Publisher: The Story Plant
                          Pages: 462
                          RELEASE DATE: September 2, 2014
                          Price: $13.95

I have both the print book and ebook, so depending on what I am doing, I can read the print book while sitting down, and carry the Kindle when I'm trying to get things done like folding clothes done! LOL! Hey, ereaders come in handy when you cannot put the book down! However, a print book by FAR exceeds an ebook!
This story, so far as I'm just 10% into it is it's about a young man who is in prison. He writes to a judge, the judge dies, and the people going through his paperwork found this manuscript from a prisoner telling his story. He says he is innocent. He only fell in love. He took a job as a camp counselor, met another camp counselor, fell in love, (she had issues), and now he is where he is, out of love. Ooooo! The writing is AMAZING! This is a true story!
There is an Editor's Note in the beginning which states: This manuscript has received minimal editing as they want to preserve the writer's grammar, pronunciation, spelling, capitalization, etc. It was deemed preferable to publish it with as little editorial tampering as possible, so that the voice of the perpetrator can be heard. There is no point in publishing a book with (sic) after every third sentence.
    WOW! Amazing, huh?!
I am SO thankful to The Story Plant for giving this to me to read and review! I cannot WAIT to see how this one turns out!

Last night I did NOT sleep! I read the book The Hidden Girl until about 5:30AM! Yes! I only got a few hours sleep, and I also had a doctor's appointment at 12:15pm! By the time I got home, I was EXHAUSTED! I needed a NAP! I took a nap at about 2:30 into the early evening hours, did a few things, wrote THIS POST, and am back to reading, again! Watch, I'll stay up all night - again! LOL!
    Thanks!
    Laurie

    1. Ah, great job on all of the reading. :) I should have participated in the read-athon. I actually can get scared from reading at night. I've been told to read Colleen Hoover. I've been interested in the Ten Tiny Breaths series a bit. :)

      1. Hi Amber!
Oh! You will LOVE Colleen Hoover's books! I've read all of them except for her New Release which JUST came out, Ugly Love. I have to wait to read that one as I have a lot of review books to get read within the next few weeks first, but I'll fit it in! She makes her characters into real people, like a friend you or I could have. While reading, you just fly through the book because her writing is THAT GREAT! The stories are amazing! They are believable, and very enjoyable, and always focus on love! Wow! You are so LUCKY because you have a LOT of excellent reading coming your way!
K A Tucker - Ten Tiny Breaths was another of my favorite books! She writes very good, too! This story has such a shocker in it! Whoa! Now this NEW book that will come out on Monday, September 1st, 'should' be read AFTER Ten Tiny Breaths. It needs to go in order as that is how the author wrote them. This is the main characters life before he meets her, but for some reason it reflects back on Ten Tiny Breaths. I don't know what that is YET until I read the book. Even the Publisher told me to make sure I've read Ten Tiny Breaths first, and I have! K A Tucker has a lot of other books, too, like Colleen does.
I'm excited to read BOTH of these books!
If you are going to start with Colleen's books, I would start with Slammed. That is her first book she published on her own and the publisher's swapped up! There are 2 more in that series, too. Then she has several more books, another 4 and Ugly Love makes 5? You have a LOT to look forward to!!
Here's a suggestion of a place to go on Facebook for Colleen Hoover - https://www.facebook.com/groups/colleenhoovercohorts/
Make sure to get the last back-slash at the end just above this sentence! It's hard to see! That is Colleen's FAN PAGE! We all call ourselves Colleen's COHORTS! LOL!
Enjoy reading both of these authors' books! You'll LOVE them! They will keep you happy a good long time to come!
Thanks for stopping on by! And thanks for leaving a comment! They are ALWAYS appreciated!
Hope I helped fill up you To Be Read pile!
