The New York Times Top 15 Best Sellers for the week ending March 31st, 2013!

Welcome! It's Sunday again! Posted by noon or earlier every Sunday, just for "YOU"! Every week seems shorter and shorter!  There is a faint smell of Spring in the air here in Michigan every now and then, and this is making me crave some warmer days ahead when I can sit outside and read. Ooooo! Such a nice thought! Now, if only my neighbors would not play their music at such high decibels! Last year it kept me IN the house. Pathetic, I say! This year will be different! If I need to have a talk with them, or our Landlord, whoever, I WILL! I am NOT going to miss out from sitting outside enjoying some fresh air and a great book this year!
So what do you think about Amazon buying Goodreads? Please LEAVE COMMENTS BELOW! I would LOVE to hear what YOU think about this!
I've seen so MANY thoughts and opinions about this subject, both good and bad. I like to focus on the positive, so I am 'hoping' it will stay somewhat the same. I can hope! I LOVE Goodreads and I really don't want to see much change to it, but if there are some good ones, GREAT!
I'll admit to one thing. I sure am glad I own a Kindle! That was the best choice I have ever made. Now with Amazon taking over Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, and other booksellers are NOT going to be featured/available for purchase through, most likely guaranteed.
I read in one article that this sale is going to give Amazon even MORE availability to suggest books to us. I'm kind of on the line with that one because I LIKE the Publishers advertising books on Goodreads like they do now. There may be a book I might not otherwise have read, but because of the advertisement from a publisher for a book that catches my eye, I'll go and check it out. Now, the same books may be advertised for me that are advertised for me on Amazon. Bummer about that because I enjoyed the variation, although this is only speculation on my part and of the others that I have read.
What about Publisher advertising? Will we still see that? I LIKE THAT!!! MORE books for me to see! Plus, the Giveaways! I LOVE entering those, too!
The thing I really like about Goodreads is our ability to voice our opinions about books more so than what we do in a traditional review on Amazon, and I think we tend to be more truthful on Goodreads than what we may be on Amazon, and we also get some pretty good conversations going about books, too. We can make Groups there, Book Clubs, To Be Read lists, (so will Amazon REQUIRE ALL the books on our TBR lists be on our Wish Lists, too? LOL!! That would be ridiculous because I have something like 200 books on my list! LOL! We ALL do!) Those are some of the questions I have.
The only thing we can do is wait and see.
If you have any thoughts about this sale, please list them below in the COMMENTS!

Important! Something I 'just' noticed that started THIS WEEK.
All the books you see here from the NYT Top 15 Best Sellers ARE direct links to the physical books whenever possible, and directly to Amazon. If there is NOT a physical book available, then the book is directly linked to the ebook at Amazon.
Just this week I have noticed some of the publishers out there have much lower prices on some their ebooks, and then others are much higher. Please know when the lower occurs, I will make note that it is a publisher's price point.
Whenever there is an Independent Author out there who self publishes their book, I also make a HUGE note of this, too! Why? I believe this is EXTREMELY important because I completely support ALL Independent Authors! The blood, sweat and tears they have gone through to get HERE! WOW!!! Although I even  do this when they release a NEW book too, for ALL the same reasons, but when they hit THIS LIST, believe me when I say I am doing the HAPPY DANCE!!! This is an author who is  BEYOND OUTSTANDING, WONDERFUL, AMAZING, PURE EXCELLENCE, THE BEST, THEIR WRITING PROVES THEY ARE DIVINE, and on and on and on! It is  someone with such talent they "DESERVE" TO BE NOTICED! KOODLES TO THEM!!

  1. These publishers are out of their minds if they think I'm going to pay that much for an ebook? Call me cheap but $15 for an ebook is outrageous! I would much rather pay a little more for the independent authors books.

    1. Hi Lauren!
I SO agree with you! You are NOT cheap!
I REFUSE to pay more than $9.99 for an ebook myself! Even $9.99 is HIGH for me! It's a COMPUTER FILE, for heaven's sake! It cost them barely ANYTHING!
I HATE to say this, but, the Publishers are pushing upwards of $14.99 PER EBOOK NOW, AS THEIR 'USUAL PRICE'! OUCH!!!!
They are shooting themselves in their own FEET if they think we are going to pay that!
I feel like I sound like a broken record because each week I complain about the cost of ebooks! This week wasn't so bad, but in the past I have reemed them out!
When ebooks hit the price point of $12.99, I had a FIT! Now they are pushing the $14.99! They held off on the $14.99 because they were being taken to court for price fixing issues, and other things, too. The courts ruled in OUR favor! I have received 2 credits back to my Amazon account already! They have been in the teens, too.
I don't know if the price of ebooks will EVER come down. I really think they will stay up there and NEVER come down.
Publishers think of ebooks as a BAD thing that has happened to them INSTEAD OF A GOOD THING! It's an ADDITIONAL SOURCE OF INCOME FOR THE PUBLISHERS, but they do NOT see it this way. WHY? I can't BEGIN to guess???
I mean this is the PERFECT opportunity for people who would NOT get up and GO to the bookstore for the Publishers to sell books, period! Why don't they make it affordable? I do not know????
I have to admit 'some' Independent Authors who have self-published have gone OVER the $7 mark, closer to $8 PER BOOK! I don't buy those, either! That's getting TOO HIGH to what I will spend out of MY pocket! These authors who are increasing the prices of their ebooks to this price point are making OTHER INDIE AUTHORS WHO HAVE SELF PUBLISHED THINK 'THEY' CAN INCREASE THEIR PRICES ON THEIR BOOKS! The problem with this - other authors' books flat-out STINK WITH THEIR EDITING, among other things!
There SHOULD BE a pricing model publishers/authors use TO PRICE THEIR BOOKS AT!!!
WHEN is the INCREASE in ebooks going to stop? When WE QUIT BUYING THEM!
Yes, again, this has been a LARGE ISSUE WITH ME every week except for this 'one' week I did NOT get on my Soapbox preaching about the cost of ebooks!
Want to hear a good one now? NOW Publishers are trying out a NEW thing! They are having some authors break up ONE BOOK into 6, or however many they want, and sell each book for $6.99! OUTRAGEOUS! I have to do a review on one, cross that out, 6 books that are like this. The books STINK! The are SO elementary because the author has to keep recapping what happened in the previous books so that ONE person who does NOT buy them ALL KNOWS what the heck is going on!
I say nuts to that! I don't need those books! They LOST a customer who otherwise WOULD HAVE READ THE BOOK HAD IT BEEN ONE!
      I SO agree with you!
      Thanks for commenting!
